Hello Lovelies,

Winter is almost over. As we enter into this fresh new season, you might want to start it with some colorful reads for you and your young ones. My picks?

Why Can’t I?

Author: Maresa Sinclair

Illustrator: Eugenia Dolotovskaia

‘Why Can’t I’ is a children’s book in poetry form. It’s a story about little penguin who wants to do so many things when he is older. His mama is reassuring and reminds him he is still good doing the things he does while still small, like jumping into his shoe instead of the sky, running to the chair instead of running so fast, reaching the cupboard door instead of being as tall as a waterfall and telling him that it’s okay to be afraid for it’s a step to being brave.

Inside Out

Author: Andrea Posner-Sanchez

Illustrator: Alan Batson

I’ve watched the film, so now I can’t wait to read the book! In the film there’s the main character Riley who moves into a new state Minnesota. She is undergoing a stage that makes her go through confusing emotions. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear. She must learn to balance them if she wants to be strong.

Narwhal Unicorn of the Sea!

Author and Illustrator: Ben Clanton

A Narwhal is a strange and beautiful sea creature with a long tusk protruding from its head. Narwhal, Unicorn of the Sea is a book about Narwhal, who meets Jellyfish and cannot believe she’s real. So many things about Narwhal are new and strange to Jellyfish. For example, that Narwhals travel with pods, or that Narwhals love books. Also, stranger still, Narwhal has a book, and it is an imaginary book. You want to find out more about Narwhal’s imaginary book? Here’s your time to go try it!

Matilda

Author: Roald Dahl

Illustrator: Quentin Blake

My oh my! Don’t I love Matilda! Young girl with such gifted talents and only one obstacle to overcome, Miss Trunchbull. Also, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood are not usually available to walk her through everything she needs to learn. Luckily, Miss Honey is always with her and always encouraging her to be her best self.

The Last Bear

Author: Hannah Gold

Illustrator: Levi Pinfold

The Last Bear is a moving book about April and her father who move into the Arctic for a scientific research on polar bears. Unfortunately, April’s father is too busy for her. Luckily for her, she meets Bear who’s lost from his family. They become friends. And in the end, April helps Bear find his way home.
