Born out of the
needs of local people, Lochaber Hope was formed in November 2005
and by November 2006 we had defined our objectives, become a constituted
body and had achieved charitable status. By November 2007 we were
operating with a full volunteer Governance Team and Pathways to
Employment began the natural progression to merge and develop the Employability Support
By February 2008 we were already operating several projects, including the Mentor Provision, having secured sufficient funding we employed our first staff member, allowing
us to take the project to the next stage and develop Outreach that was previously piloted by DOVE in the rural community of Duror.
The project will provide a Life Skills Centre for all Lochaber people; the Centre will house our ‘drop in’ room, our mentor meeting rooms, our woodworking workshop, our administration offices and it will be the base for our waste timber Recycling service, we will promote and encourage social, communication, employability
and employment skills. We will support people to manage change, make informed
decisions, use the wide range of services and expertise that is already available
in Lochaber and support people to take responsibility for their own lives.
Lochaber Hope is for everyone; unemployed, employed, retired, people with a
disability, a mental health need, in recovery from an addiction, skilled or
unskilled, or anyone who has low confidence, low self esteem or feels isolated.
Lochaber Hope will allow people to rebuild a sense of value and belonging to
the community.
Lochaber Hope welcomes you to join us and share the fun and learning, Have
